Do we begin our lives in this world without any prior experience in any form of life or existence and in a different fashion or manner?
Before arriving to this world, do we encounter
another realm which is not in a life form as we know it? When we die, do we go
to another world, or is it like being in a state of unconsciousness with no
dreams, like a rock or any other inanimate object? We do not know anything
about life or any form of being before we were born, and we are not aware of
any life or existence in any form after we die. There are many religious or
cult beliefs about another world after this, none of which is scientifically
proven. Does this mean that there are no circumstances of any other forms before
and after?
The question is what
we experience before we are born to our present life and what is awaiting us after
we die. Based on our current knowledge, it seems as if there is no world as we
know it, before and after our present life. There are many science fiction
novels visualizing other worlds beyond our present one, worlds in various forms,
formats, or arrangements which present another alternative after this life. The
nature of these imagined worlds is based on human beings, as we are in our
present physical and mental capacities, going through a different life form, or
experiencing a different world. According to religions, everything starts from
the time that we are born, and depending on what we do in this life, there is
another world where we can undergo comparable mental and bodily experiences. That
world sounds like the one we are living in now, but in two opposite extremes
which we will experience depending on whether we believe and obey teachings of
those religions or not. Science believes that our world begins with birth and
ends at death.
However, there is
another possibility that we enter this world from a different one, and we exit
from this world to another, and totally a different world as well. We may experience
these two other worlds which are not physical, mental, or anything we can
imagine with our present knowledge and mental capacities.
There is this story about
someone with a dual life, or two sets of lives. This person claims to remember
when he was born to a different set of parents and grew up in the household of
those parents until the time he grew up and got married and had his own set of
children. He remembers all the events of that life all the way through death. He
claims to have been born into his present life, with another set of parents and
siblings and a different environment, as if it is a complete set of life after
death. At his present life, he is married and has his children, while he always
remembers the other life of his, from the beginning to the end. Whether this is
reincarnation or a made-up story or cute imagination, we don’t know. However, if
the story is true, that makes another set of assumptions about our present life
in comparison with its past and future.
Let’s say we had
another experience, which was not life as we know it, and that experience did
not depend on the physical world and physical beings. The same happens when we
die, but through a totally different and separate experience. When we are born,
we are not coming to this life form from nothing, but we begin in a new form
called body, and in a new world which is our present world. We have a brain
that commands our thoughts and actions. However, we did not just appear from
nowhere, since we had a different existence before we were born, an existence
that was not physically and mentally like we experience it now, but a very
different reality. The same will happen when we die, going to a different
world, very different from this world, which does not require us to have the
body and the mind we need in our present life form, and even different from the
one before this life. The physical world we experience now, with the universe
filled with stars and planets, did not exist in our experience before and will
not exist in our experience after this present life.
Our mind works because of our brain, which it occupies. Let us say that our existence, which means our mind or our thoughts, is in a totally different format before and after this life, and they are different from each other as well. Such formats are non-physical, however. When we die, our physical body dies, but our mind goes to a different domain, which is not physical or mental either. Our present life will be a dream, beginning with birth and ending with death, and whether we remember this dream or not is not clear. After we die, it could be like waking up from a dream, a dream which might not be recalled, as there is no brain or thoughts. It does not have any similarity to our present life either. It is a world without any material objects. It is vacant as in a realm where there is only one person existing solitarily, but not in a physical sense. That is a world with no material objects.
This is of course a hypothesis, and whether it is true or not, one may never find out in this present life. However, this theory assumes this life as a dream which begins one day and ends at another time. The dominion before and after this life is not known, but there is a possibility that the world we are living in now is nothing but a dream and amidst an everlasting existence, or somewhere between two different realms. All we are sure about is the current life, which began someday and will end in another time, in a world that we are certain will perish someday, as is scientifically conjectured. Whether humanity finds another place to continue its existence may not be predictable. However, what was before and what will be after is the question as old as humanity itself.
