How Palestinian popular resistance became a global movement
Mandy
Turner
Today,
29 November, is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People.
There
is a long history of solidarity with Palestinians from countries and movements
struggling against colonialism and oppression across the world - especially
from Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

PHOTOS: Rainstorm devastates Khan Younis displacement camp

The
first heavy rainfall of winter arrived in Gaza this week, flooding tent
encampments across the besieged Strip. With approximately 90 percent of the
enclave’s population having been displaced from their homes, often several
times, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are living in makeshift tents that
are ill-equipped to withstand the elements. Gaza’s Government Media Office
estimates that around 10,000 tents were either washed away or damaged due to
this week’s storm.

Since
October 7, 2023, Sondos Sabra has kept a diary of the genocide. These entries
serve as a window into her life and the universal Gazan story of what it means
to survive. "I remember that I remember, and I will not have that memory
erased."

Ceasefire 101: Israel fails at war goals, Hezbollah succeeds
Ali
Rizk
Hezbollah
has once again proven to be a handful for Israel, notwithstanding the heavy
blows that were dealt to the resistance movement in the latest round of
hostilities. A ceasefire deal that has
come into effect after over two months of full-scale conflict on the
Lebanese–Israeli front falls far short of what Israel had hoped to achieve in
the earlier stages of this conflict when the momentum seemed to be on its side.

Greater Energy Levels by GOP Produce Victories Over Democrats
Ralph
Nader
Over
thirty years ago, Republican historian and political analyst, Kevin Phillips,
remarked that the “Republicans go for the jugular while the Democrats go for
the capillaries.” This serious disparity in political energy levels is rarely
taken into account to explain election turnouts. The voluntary enfeebling of
the Democratic Party started long ago. In 1970, writing in Harper’s Magazine,
economist John Kenneth Galbraith, a co-founder of Americans for Democratic
Action, wrote an article “Who Needs
Democrats? And What It Takes to be Needed?” He argued that if the
Democratic Party does not take on the corporate and political establishment, it
has no purpose at all.

As US Celebrates Thanksgiving, Israel-Imposed Starvation and Suffering in Gaza Intensifies
Julia
Conley
As
millions prepared to celebrate Thanksgiving in the United States on Wednesday,
human rights advocates provided dispatches from nearly 6,000 miles away in
Gaza, where the Biden administration has continued to provide political and
military support for Israel's onslaught despite public disapproval for the war
among Americans.

Grappling with Jewish fears in a just Palestinian struggle
Haggai
Matar
In
her thought-provoking latest book, “Doppelganger,” the author and activist
Naomi Klein outlines how the political right has been strengthened by the
left’s neglect of certain issues or fields of discourse that directly affect
many people’s lives. By simply dismissing those areas of discussion as
“right-wing” without offering an alternative ideological approach, the left,
Klein argues, allows the right to frame the conversation entirely on its own
terms.

Palestinians, Both Civilian and Military, are Transcending the Horror We’ve Unleashed
Stan
Cox
In
February, the public health specialist Muna Abed Alah published a paper in the
journal Current Psychology titled “Shattered Hierarchy: How the Gaza Conflict
Demolished Maslow’s Pyramid of Needs.” The idea of a hierarchy of needs—first
published by the psychologist Abraham Maslow in 1943 and subsequently modified
in various ways by Maslow and others—has long been pervasive in the world of
pop psychology, while some in academia have poked holes in Maslow’s logic. Now,
Alah suggests that the Palestinians of Gaza have rendered the hierarchy of
needs wholly obsolete.
