It is a part of evolution to look forward to new ideas, new
structures, new materials, new seasons, and new years. Forward thinking is what
makes us improve our lives, from living in caves into modern homes and fast
transportation and real-time communication. We consider those who maintain old
ideas and those who try to conserve old traditions, old fashioned. Sometimes,
those with “the good old days” philosophy find ways in which they can continue “the
good old days” dressed in new styles. For instance, if slavery is crime of the
past, it continues under new terms such as day laborers, seasonal workers, and migrant
workers. Then, there is the rest of the world to keep the populations under
dictatorship and subjugated, while their natural resources are robbed from them. There are
new terms to explain it too; such as NAFTA, PTT, and The New World Order.
If we are all created in God’s own image, how come we are
constantly reminded that we look different from each other. White Anglo-Saxon has
been the dominant race for a few centuries, while we know that it is not the
look that makes that race superior but their guns and the brutality in procuring
it. So, if we are God’s image, what race does He belong to? On the other hand,
dark features of any other race, what they call black or brown or yellow or
red, cannot be distinguished as much any longer considering inter-marriages. Of
course money trumps race. Somalia use to be the land where strong men and women
were forced out of their homes to be shipped to other lands as slaves. Since slavery
is condemned by every nation, government of Saudi Arabia creates legal
migration from the very land, for those in need of the very basic necessities
to be shipped to Saudi Arabia and to be treated as slaves, of course under a
different title. The same citizens of Saudi Arabia are considered inferior to
lighter skin colored, unless they have rich oil reserves!
We cherish "new" with a hope that a fresh beginning may bring more
happiness. We may want to look at the old first, and examine it since the "new" will soon become "old" too. In a nation where old people have no value and money replaces
wisdom and experience, new generation should be reminded of their future. “New”
is definitely good! Respecting the “Old” and considering that anything presently new will become old in the future, should be in the back of everyone’s mind. With this footnote,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
