Fear of Democracy

As all our noble presidents such as Donald Trump and Barak Obama and George W. Bush have reminded us, there are many dictatorial and collective governments which are not only jealous of our democracy, but fear it as well. They fear that Western democracy may expand in their land and spark a popular uprising. Almost every citizen of the Western world has accepted to be the inhabitant of a great nation that enjoys democracy to the fullest. There have been many referendums initiated to prove that people in democratic countries of the west acknowledge their freedom and cherish it, and will fight to keep such God given, State provided freedom of choice from any hostile attack. Of course, it stems partially from the capitalist system in the West that gives everyone choices in abundance. This democracy is spread out all over Western countries, which can be narrowed down to the freedom one can experience in the United States. For instance, we elect our own government representatives through elections, with the last one completed just a few days ago. National elections in the US are from seven o’clock in the morning until eight o’clock at night on the first Tuesday of November of every other year. You may ask why it is in November when it is cold in many of the states because of rain and snow, which makes it hard to stand in lines for hours to vote. The logical answer is to examine how much one values his or her democracy and would sacrifice for his country, just one day every other year to exercise his or her choice granted by forefathers of this great nation. It is in fact a test to see how much one can withstand blizzard in order to elect his or her representatives. You may also ask why on a Tuesday, a day that everyone is at work, and considering the present economy, some have to have two jobs and therefore will never get a chance to vote in elections. There is a simple response to this question as well, which we call auto-selection, meaning that right persons to vote are automatically selected this way. It is not surprising to say that not all people are intelligent enough to know how to elect a candidate, and intelligent people are occupied in an occupation that allows them to spare one day every other year to exercise their rights to vote. As a result of this auto-selection, wrong candidates are automatically prevented from winning the election. Some people speak of what they call “voter suppression”, claiming that some tactics are used to prevent people of certain races or economic classes to vote. In a democracy, any innovative way to win the election is in fact a sign of democracy. Those who are intelligent enough to find inventive and groundbreaking ideas to win an election, deserve fruits of their accomplishments. Finally, there are those who believe that money should not be involved in politics. Ronald Reagan brought about a new economic system that he called “trickle down economy”. It meant for a society to be economically fair, rich people needed to become so rich that when they held their wealth in currency and in the palm of both hands, money would trickle down from their hands, and the rest of the society could pick those extra wealth up. That is why every president since then, Democrat or Republican, has eased taxing the rich. For the same reason, money in politics is favored by every president who has been backed by industry which is the backbone of a capitalist economy, and even our judiciary branch of the government considered corporations as people, who could contribute to candidates of their choice any amount they could afford. This is the true meaning of democracy.

Some say that Democrats created the “RusiaGate” in order to derail the direction of attention from a lack of democracy in this country. They also believe that with the shenanigans they did to throw Bernie Sanders out, when it was obvious that he would win the primary, they deserved Trump’s presidency over Clinton’s. Supreme Court’s decisions on lifting a cap on individual financing, and especially the decision on the famous “Citizens United” case, that allowed corporations to contribute unlimited amount to political parties, resulted in the presidency of a rich person. In some ways, it makes sense for a president to be a rich and corporate owner himself, instead of devising ways to defend rights of corporations and rich people. This does not diminish our democracy, since the meaning of the word “democracy” is very much perplexing; as people think it exactly means “government of people” because it is the combination of two Greek words, “demo” and “cracy” which literally mean that. Democracy in the US never meant to be a government of majority of people, and our forefathers who wrote the constitution established a government which was headed by noblemen. The constitution of the United States begins with the statement “We the People”. It is erroneous to think that the word “people” in this statement would encompass every person who lived in this land. It becomes more clear as to what this word means when the rest of the bill is studied, which defines this word as white male landowner. In fact it meant that people of color and women were not included, in addition to those who did not acquire land. Of course, there have been many amendments to the original constitution that changed some of the original meanings, and even the framework of what those who wrote the constitution had in mind. However, some other ways were devised to avoid those amendments altogether, and as a result, we have the democracy that is envied by other nations.

United States government has been supporting dictatorships, almost from beginning, such as those in Saudi Arabia and Emirates and other countries governed with iron fist. Our policy is to stay away from our friends’ internal affairs and assist them when they request. Of course some anti-Americans blame us for some of the cup-de-tats in Latin America and other places in the world, and blame CIA for having hands in them. As President Bush correctly named it “Homeland Security”, our secret service is designed to secure our homeland, and meddling with affairs of other countries is for the same purpose and to the same end. Our forefathers had the vision, as it was explained earlier, to create a democratic country, which some countries were not lucky enough in inheriting fruits of such visionary thinkers. As long as Saudi Arabia receives military hardware in exchange for oil, whether they use it against Yemenis or people of Bahrain, or cutting hands and nose and head is their formal punishment, it is their own business. As president Trump mentioned, it is important for us to provide job for people who work in weapon manufacturing industry. Prince of Saudi has been blamed for the murder of a journalist who lived in the United States. Of course, they don’t enjoy our democracy, and we should encourage them to learn from our brand of democracy not by criticizing them and meddling with their affairs, but by staying on their side and enjoying the fruit of our trade with them! We should also remember that people in various parts of the world have their own cultures, and our brand of democracy may not be acceptable by their culture either. Some cultures even require dictatorship as they cannot understand democracy, and it will take them a long time to learn and appreciate it. That is why United States assists in election of men with iron hands in some countries, which would benefit their people, and keep our land clear of terrorism. Democracy in the US does not mean that any terrorist can roam our land and inflict pain on our people. Our secret service and our security forces need to be strong enough to recognize and arrest any terrorist act before even the idea is formed in the head of people on the Left. That is why our country needs a strong anti-immigration policy, as our president is advocating. As a result, our cherished democracy can stay intact.

As the last country to abolish systematic and official slavery, and the most religious country in the West, we have always believed that there are people who are created inferior to others and God intentionally created this color scheme in order to separate the good from evil. People with darker color of skin and hair and eyes are created by God to service others, and they have to be subdued or they would interfere with God’s wills. As open slavery was abolished and negated throughout the world, we had to come up with diverse ways to keep inferior people under leash. Education opens the mind and teaches creativity. The worst thing for the lower class people is to get public education. In fact, anything that is free will make them not to want to work. Not only public education, but anything that a government does that benefits the majority, such as police and libraries and prisons, should be privatized. The latest policy in pursue of this objective is private army which is underway. Casting vote is on Tuesdays, when targeted group has to work. Since electing politicians who believe in such policy is important, we need to keep such people at work, and in more than one job if possible, so they don’t have time to vote. Another way is to keep them in jail, and pass a law that prisoners cannot vote. We segregate neighborhoods, and place heavy police presence in such neighborhoods to put in confinement, anyone who does not conform. Of course, law should be so intricate that obeying it would require some education in law. Those who have the means can hire their own attorneys to defend them in such catastrophic situations. Therefore, not only race matters, but level of education and wealth is important too. A rich person has a God given advantage over others, and he should make sure that the advantage exceeds and not expands, which defines our democracy.
United States has created capitalism in the highest stage. Not only this country is governed by corporations, but the world is under the control of multi-national large corporations and conglomerates as well. Average people think there are two political parties which govern the US. Democratic and Republican parties are in fact two clubs with certain number of members with an organization chart that is like a pyramid, similar to military. There are soldiers at the base with all the affiliations and enthusiasms that one expects from a club member with very limited benefits. The prime value is in fact self-satisfaction of belonging to a group that changes political decisions made on the top. It cannot be more further from the truth, as those on the top of the pyramid have no authority to make any decision, as decisions are dictated by the one to ten percent who own almost half of this country, and elect their government administrators, such as the president, members of both houses, and court appointees, through their financial contributions and lobbies. Of course, some receive unintended benefits as a result, such as the media, as election process is constantly getting more expensive and the media is expanded from placards and billboards to newspapers and magazines and radio and television and internet. This is what we call “democracy” that does not translate by any means to free, such as free election, but a thoughtful process that benefits the owners of this country, land owners, as it has been the case since the time of the authors of the constitution. It is also assumed that corporations compete with each other and the best, for the sake of the consumer, wins the competition. This idea has been installed in everyone’s mind by creating competition in many aspects of the society. Sport, which is the leisure of almost all Americans, is based on competition. Movies, TV shows, talent shows, spelling B’s, and even churches compete with each other. Mangers of companies make employees compete with each other for moving up the ladder and promotions. Organizational duties are made as individual tasks, which would separate everyone in order to benefit the top, instead of cooperation which would benefit all involved. Recently, reality shows are created based on competition as well. Winning is everything, no matter at what expense to the loser. New drugs have been invented and spread among those on the left who try to change such system. In the sixties, cocaine and marijuana and acid (LSD) became popular, and now it is opioids. Corporations have all the power to dictate their own agenda, and democracy means power to corporations.

The greatest nation in the world stands on the pillars of the greatest military. The hero of the World War and the last military man who became the president of the United States, General Eisenhower, made a speech in January 1961 about military industrial complex, and warned people against it. What this president realized after heading the most powerful nation in the world became his fear, which we realize now that it was unsubstantial, as military needs to be merged in the capitalist system as well. He experienced power of private industrialists in excess of his own power, and noticed that every action of his was dictated by them through their lobbyists. The most profitable manufacturing, military ammunition, in conjunction with private industry was fearsome to him. What Eisenhower predicted almost six decades ago, is what makes this nation strong. United States, as President Trump rightly mentioned, has a great economy due to the wars in different parts of the world, and by supplying both sides with American arms. Weapon manufacturing conglomerates have become so powerful that politicians are competing to satisfy them. Manufacturing has changed face during the last forty years in the United States, from goods for everyday consumption to military ammunitions. Most industries manufacturing household items have migrated to other countries with cheaper labor, but military ammunition that can sell many times its cost is the largest export of the US. Creating wars in the world makes the business of selling weapons more and more profitable. Our democracy has allowed such transfer in industry that enlarges the wealth of the wealthy, which is the 21st century democracy, and this democracy is what other nations fear.
