Key Developments
  • Iran announced three successive phases of retaliation following the latest US strikes.
  • The IRGC said it targeted US facilities in Jordan, Qatar and Oman.
  • The Iranian army reported additional drone attacks on US sites in Kuwait and Bahrain.
  • Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz until further notice, citing continued US intervention.
  • CENTCOM said it struck about 140 Iranian targets in its third round of attacks this week.
  • Regional governments reported missiles, drones, explosions and activated warning systems.
  • Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States must now “face reality.”
Three-Phase Retaliation
Iran launched its most extensive military response yet against US forces across the Middle East on Sunday, striking military bases and logistical infrastructure in multiple countries after Washington carried out a third wave of attacks against Iranian territory.
The retaliation unfolded in three successive phases and was accompanied by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ announcement that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed to maritime traffic until an end to US intervention in the region.
The escalation followed overnight American strikes targeting military facilities and communications infrastructure across southern Iran.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation struck approximately 140 targets, including missile and drone sites, naval assets, communications networks and ammunition depots, describing it as the third round of attacks launched against Iran within a week.
Washington claimed the strikes were conducted after Iran targeted a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran insisted the incident involved warning fire after a ship ignored navigation instructions.

First Phase Targets Jordan
The IRGC said the opening phase of its response targeted the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, destroying command-and-control facilities and hangars used for MQ-9 reconnaissance drones.
In a statement, the Guard said the operation also sought to prevent US attempts to establish an “illegal corridor” south of the Strait of Hormuz and accused Washington of trying to impose its will on Oman regarding maritime navigation.
The IRGC described the latest American attacks on Iran’s southern coastal infrastructure as an attempt to compensate for previous military failures, warning that continued US aggression would be met with stronger retaliation.

Second Phase Expands Across the Gulf
Iran then broadened its response by announcing strikes against additional US positions in the Gulf.
According to the IRGC, ballistic missiles hit Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, destroying a fighter maintenance facility together with a command-and-control center.
The Guard also announced it had intercepted and stopped a second vessel in the Strait of Hormuz that it described as violating Iranian navigation directives.
Iranian military officials said the attacks were a direct response to continuing American strikes against Iranian military positions, warning that any further US or Israeli attacks would trigger even more powerful operations.

Third Phase Hits Oman
In the third stage of the operation, the IRGC announced strikes against logistical support centers and aircraft-carrier refueling facilities at the Port of Duqm in Oman.
Separately, the Iranian Army announced drone attacks against US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Military statements said Iranian drones struck Patriot missile systems, ammunition depots and radar installations in Kuwait before targeting communications infrastructure and radar sites used by US forces in Bahrain.
The army warned that any repetition of US attacks would result in “more severe” retaliation.
Following the strikes, Bahraini authorities activated nationwide warning sirens, while reports emerged of explosions in Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Oman’s Musandam Governorate also reported drone strikes on several locations, although Muscat condemned the attacks and said it was taking measures to safeguard national security.

Hormuz Closed
Alongside the military operations, the IRGC Navy announced the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, declaring that no vessels would be allowed to transit the strategic waterway until further notice.
Iranian naval commanders said several commercial ships had ignored warnings and attempted to navigate outside approved routes foreign direction.
According to the statement, one vessel shut down its tracking systems, prompting Iranian forces to fire warning shots before stopping it.
The IRGC warned that any attempt to exploit the incident or launch further attacks against Iran would result in strikes on additional US military bases throughout the region.
US officials, meanwhile, claimed an Iranian missile struck a commercial vessel in the Strait, leaving one crew member missing, while the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that a container ship east of Oman suffered damage and caught fire.

Ghalibaf: ‘Now You Must Face Reality’
As military operations unfolded, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared that “the era of one-sided deals is over.”
“We told you: honor your promises and commitments, otherwise you will have to pay the price,” Ghalibaf said. “Now you must face reality.”
His remarks followed repeated Iranian accusations that Washington violated the US-Iran memorandum of understanding by resuming military attacks while simultaneously claiming negotiations remained open.
The latest escalation comes only days after US President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire understanding between Washington and Tehran effectively over, while saying talks would continue.
