October 24, 2024
Before the war, the joy and excitement at the start of each school year in Gaza were palpable: the buzz of markets filled with children buying their new uniforms and stationery, teachers preparing lessons and decorating their classrooms, and staff welcoming the students with songs and recreational activities on the first day of classes.
Now, nearly two months into the start of the academic year, young students from Gaza are mourning the loss not only of family members, friends, and their homes, but of their education as well.

How do I comfort the loved ones I left behind in Gaza?

October 17, 2024 For more than a year, Gaza has been stuck in an endless loop of destruction. While the rest of the world moves forward, for us, time feels frozen. People everywhere celebrate milestones, build futures, and pursue their passions, but in Gaza, Palestinians are still living the same day on repeat: bombs exploding, homes collapsing, funeral after funeral, and suffocating fear.

A fascist specter is haunting America

State racism in the name of workers’ interests.” That’s not the only response to the perennial question What is fascism?but it is a compelling one. Now that mass deportationstarting with the Haitian residents of Springfield, Ohiohas joined sealed borders and drill, baby, drill as keystones of the Republican Party platform, its undeniable that the GOPs much-ballyhooed effort to rebrand as the party of workers is inseparable from its assault on the rights and safety of immigrants. While the Trump campaign has run on protective tariffs, and some MAGA Republicans have praised the antitrust work of Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, the GOP’s core pitch remains simpler and more powerful: assuaging the fears of the American worker by ramping up terror against their non- American peers.
