No More Silence
July 27, 2024
I do not know
how it is in your household, but in mine we have developed the practice over
the past nine months of reciting to one another the most appalling of the news
bulletins from Gaza that come our way from a great variety of sources. It is
rather miserable to think life has come to this, reading aloud daily accounts
of atrocities, but there is no turning away from the depths to which terrorist
Israel has dragged the whole of humanity.

China throws clout behind Palestine
July 26, 2024
HONG KONG – The
Beijing Declaration, signed earlier this week, constitutes yet another stunning
Chinese diplomatic coup, but the document goes far beyond affirming China’s
pull.

Butcher of Gaza Netanyahu Repeatedly Lied to Congress about Iraqi “Nukes,” and now Wants US War on Iran
July 24, 2024
Ann Arbor
(Informed Comment) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a master of
misdirection, the technique master illusionists use to divert the viewer’s
attention from the trick and to pull the wool over their eyes. He uses his
slick American accent, his bulging eyes, his rhetorical flourishes, his
maniacal certainty, to fool people whenever and however he can.

‘press’ was targeted in an Israeli attack in the central Gaza Strip. One
Palestinian writer and researcher was killed, and two others were
injured. According to the Gaza Media Office, 163 Palestinian journalists
and media workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7th. (Photo:

Is this my selection?
This question is asked
when a person has to choose between two or more. This means that in many cases in
our lives, we cannot do the work we like or that is in our interest. Therefore,
we elect a person who will do on our behalf the action that we wanted to do. We
have named this process either an election, and the person who is selected or
elected makes decisions on our behalf. The chosen person could be a lawmaker, a
law that could either benefit or harm us. Therefore, it is very important that
we are aware of who we elect to represent us.

The uncounted Gaza victims: Why hundreds of thousands are being allowed to die
July
23, 2024
Earlier
this month, the Lancet published an article estimating that the total number of
Palestinian civilian deaths caused directly and indirectly by Israeli attacks
since October 2023 could be nearly five times higher than the official death
toll, and could reach “up to 186 000 or even more.”

In Umm al-Khair, the occupation is damning us to multigenerational trauma

The
demolition forces enter the village. All the children run to their mothers, who
scramble to salvage whatever they can from their homes before it’s too late.
Everyone watches on anxiously to see who will be made homeless today. The
bulldozers gather in the center of the village and then stop. Soldiers
disembark. The villagers look each other in the eye, searching for words of
comfort, but there are none. Our children ask us why this is happening, but we
have no answers.
Feeling the heat: capitalism and global warming
July
22, 2024
We
are in real trouble. Global carbon dioxide emissions (the main cause of global
warming) continue to rise, hitting a new high in 2023. Last year was also the
hottest in recorded history and, year by year, more Americans are feeling the
consequences. Yet, we have seen only modest attempts to bring emissions down.

Mister Netanyahu comes to Washington and will receive a warm welcome
Next
week, on Wednesday, July 24th, Israeli Prime Minister and war criminal Benjamin
Netanyahu is expected to visit Washington, DC, although he has not yet received
a formal invitation. When the Israeli prime minister has traveled to Washington
every year, he’s conveyed a message of closeness and intimacy, unlike the 4
years since his last visit to the White House, something that does not go
unnoticed by friends and enemies.

Hopes for Gaza Ceasefire Fade Again
Northern and
central Gaza have been hit by Israeli airstrikes this week as troops return to
battle Hamas fighters in areas they claimed to have cleared many months ago.
The intensified military offensive unfolded just days after mediators thought
they were making headway in negotiations for a ceasefire. On Friday, Hamas
reportedly dropped its insistence on a “complete” ceasefire as a prerequisite
for talks.

The US Continues To Undermine Its Own Interests in Iran
July 17, 2024
The American-led
isolation of Iran is springing leaks all over. It seems that wherever Iran
knocks, everyone answers. Except the United States. Instead, the U.S. continues
to close the door, following a long pattern with Iran of undermining its own
interests.

By failing to stop the Gaza genocide, the ICJ is working exactly as intended
July 16, 2024
Millions
worldwide are appalled by what they see as the total failure of the
international legal order to prevent Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Despite major
cases before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International
Criminal Court (ICC), there is a growing sense of frustration that the law has
not done its job. While understandable, this outrage is based on a fundamental
misconception that international law’s objective is to eradicate violence; that
may be what the UN Charter promises, but it is not what international law is
expected to do nor what it actually does.
Science and Freedom: Toward a new revolutionary epistemology
July 13, 2024
Paul Robeson,
speaking of the scientific achievements of the West which have formed the
bedrock of its claim to supremacy, posed a question for the 20th century:
“having found the key, has Western man—Western bourgeois man—sufficient
strength left to turn it in the lock?”1
