Israeli press review: Netanyahu says wars will never end
1 hour ago
Israel's wars across the Middle East will never end, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Channel 14 News on Tuesday.
In a rare and lengthy interview with a channel that is widely seen in Israel as his mouthpiece, Netanyahu responded to a question about whether Israel’s wars in the region are concluding by indicating that military operations will continue.
“We have achieved tremendous accomplishments,” the Israeli prime minister said, citing the assassinations of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders and the occupation of parts of Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
“We broke the barrier of fear. For 47 years, no one dared attack Iran,” he said, referring to the two wars begun by Israel and the US against Iran.
Asked whether the goal of “total victory”, a term Netanyahu coined immediately after the Hamas-led attack of 7 October 2023, was still achievable, the prime minister replied that “it never ends”.
“If you want to live in the Middle East, and in the world, you have to be very strong,” Netanyahu said, adding that now “Israel is stronger than ever”.

Katz claimed Israeli forces have established so-called “security zones” which are designed “to protect Israel’s residents and communities from jihadist terrorists”.
He has not offered any timeline for the withdrawal of Israeli troops, including in Lebanon, which Hezbollah has said is paramount for any peace deal between the countries and cannot be reliant on the Lebanese group's disarmament.
Israel arrests five women activists in the occupied West Bank
1 hour ago
The Israeli army arrested five women activists in the occupied West Bank early on Wednesday morning. The women, who work with health committees, were arrested after their homes were raided.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported that the arrests included Jamila Abu Dahou and Jamila Kanaan from Ramallah, released prisoners Maysar al-Faqih and Faten Hanaysheh from Nablus, and Etaf Bader from Hebron, in addition to 15 other Palestinians.
Abdul Rahman Bader, the husband of 66-year-old Etaf, told Middle East Eye that soldiers stormed their home in Hebron and asked for his wife's ID. Upon recognising her, they informed her that she was under arrest.
Her husband tried to find out why, but the soldiers wouldn't tell him anything and told him to remain calm. They then searched the rooms and opened the wardrobes before taking her to a military vehicle, handcuffing her, and blindfolding her.
“We don’t know where she was taken, and we hope the arrest is temporary and for questioning only,” he said.

Israel is carrying out 'reproductive genocide' against Palestinians
3 hours ago
Israel has for decades carried out a “reproductive genocide” of the Palestinian people, obliterating medical institutions, executing women and children and degrading the lived environment to such a point that it results in infertility, a new report says.
This practice, the Palestinian Feminist Collective report contends, has accelerated since Israel’s genocide in Gaza began following the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023, with the intention of making it impossible for Palestinian life to continue.
Last week, the UN’s top investigative body on Palestine and Israel concluded that Israeli forces had deliberately targeted Palestinian children as a central element of their assault on Gaza.
The UN’s report examined the full scope of harm inflicted on children, from precision shootings by snipers and drones, to torture in detention, reproductive violence and the destruction of schools and hospitals.
Israel has killed more than 21,000 Palestinian children since October 2023, with a further 5,160 children estimated to be buried under rubble, according to the UN report. As of October 2024, at least 15,000 children had lost their mothers.

‘Board of Peace’ to launch ‘Hamas-free’ camps as Israel tightens grip on Gaza
4 hours ago
US President Donald Trump’s so-called Board of Peace is set to launch “Hamas-free humanitarian zones” in Gaza where Palestinians will be herded while the Israeli military expands its control on the rest of the territory, Israeli media is reporting.
Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that the first site will open in Tel Sultan, near Rafah, “within weeks”, and house civilians “with no weapons or affiliation with Hamas”.
It added that the zone will be policed by a “multinational force”, known as the International Stabilisation Force (ISF), which will be equipped with “non-lethal weapons” and operate from the Israeli Amitai Camp near Gaza under the command of the board.
According to the report, while aid and temporary housing will be supplied to the areas, Board of Peace officials have pledged not to import concrete into Gaza.
The newspaper further reported that the board is seeking to establish “large logistics warehouses that will serve its efforts to regulate the humanitarian shelters, including in communities near the border fence”, and has begun identifying sites for this purpose.
