Trump Says US Oil Companies Are Making a ‘Fortune’ Due to the Iran War

The president dismissed concerns over higher gas prices at a rally in Georgia
President Trump on Saturday boasted that US oil and gas companies are making a “fortune” due to the shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by his war with Iran, and dismissed the high gas prices that Americans are facing at the pump.
“While oil prices are temporarily high and will be falling dramatically in a short period of time … the United States oil and gas business is making hundreds of billions of dollars,” the president told supporters at a rally in Georgia.
“Our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars because of what’s happening in the Middle East because they’re coming to Texas, and they’re coming to Oklahoma, and they’re coming to Louisiana, and they’re taking that oil. They’re making hundreds of billions of dollars; our country is, and on top of it we have Venezuela, and we have Greenland,” he added.
The president said that he was advised not to make that point since Americans are paying higher gas prices. “My people said, ‘Please don’t mention that, sir, because people are paying a little higher,'” he said, adding that he could picture the “fake news headlines” about his comments.
“I don’t give a damn, I’m gonna say it: we’re making a freakin fortune. Our country is getting stronger and stronger all the time,” he said.
The increased energy costs for Americans are expected to be detrimental to the Republicans in the upcoming November 3 midterm elections, but Trump has expressed little concern and is speaking openly about how he may resume the bombing campaign against Iran either before or after the elections.
For their part, Iranian officials say that they’re ready to face another round of US-Israeli strikes and are warning that their retaliatory attacks will be much heavier and hit targets in the region that they previously spared.

The US president said that 'most people seem to think' it will happen after the midterms
President Trump told reporters on Wednesday night that the US was “not negotiating” with Iran and that something would be happening “fairly soon,” one of his latest vague threats against the Islamic Republic.
Trump made the comments at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, after returning from a rally in South Carolina with former professional boxer Evander Holyfield.
“We have a little conflict against Iran. I think I’ll send Evander ‘the Real Deal’ over there,” he said, gesturing toward Holyfield. “But we’re doing very well militarily and financially against Iran.”

When asked about negotiations, Trump said, “We are not negotiating… something one way or another, and it’ll happen fairly soon. Most people seem to think it’s after the election; we will see what happens.”
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the US and Israel have drawn up plans to bomb Iran after the November 3 US midterm elections and that the targets would likely include energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and Iran’s missiles and drones.
There have also been signs that an attack could come before the October 27 Knesset elections in Israel. According to a report from Axios, Israel flew dozens of fighter jets near the Iranian border on Monday, and US officials were left with the impression that Israel was attempting to provoke an Iranian response.
