Iran Rising
Iran
Rising is a book authored by Amin Saikal in August 2018. The book commences by citing
a brief description of the uprising of December 2017 in the capital, as well as
some other cities of Iran. As Donald Trump was the US president at the time, he
welcomed the uprising and stated full support of the United States. Although
Trump did not do anything else besides his gesture of support, the
representative of Iran in the United Nations condemned him and called it an
interference in Iranian domestic issues. This gave the government of Iran a
good excuse to crush the demonstrations by calling it a foreign-led uprising.

California State University Students Resisting Genocide in Gaza
Seth Sandronsky
Institutions, private and public, wield immense power over the lives of people in and out of the U.S. Thus, people’s organized actions to change institutions are by definition David and Goliath-like power struggles. For America, that holds true in the main because the political donor class uses its deep pockets to influence the three branches of government. Voters lack such influence.
A Deceptive Joy in Geneva over U.S. China Trade Talks
Daniel Warner
There is joy in diplomatic Geneva.
The neutral, good offices convenor of Reagan-Gorbachev and Putin–Biden summits
is back in the headlines with trade talks between China and the United States.
“China–U.S. tariff talks place Swiss diplomacy on centre stage” boasted a local
website. But wait, isn’t the trade war between the United States and China a
clear violation of international norms codified at the World Trade Organization
(WTO)? Is the euphoria over the possibility of averting a global trade war and
recession actually undermining internationally accepted principles and
institutions of multilateralism such as the WTO based in Geneva?

according to the official definition of the United Nations Refugee Agency.
People can become stateless in a variety of ways. Nina Murray, head of policy
and research at the European Statelessness Network (ENS), explained to Civio:
