A View from Outside

It has taken the system, the regime, the hidden government, the establishment, the deep state, or whatever the power that rules the United States is identified as, a long time to change the culture of American people to what we witness today, scientifically and successfully. It takes someone from outside who had been raised in a different culture to notice it, because the culture manipulation and the setup has been so successful that a person raised in America would not even notice that he or she has been trained throughout the years and decades to believe and accept whatever the establishment propagates, and stay compliant. When PG&E, the energy monopoly in California announces that electricity has to be shut down in order to prevent a fire that may be ignited because of lack of maintenance of many of its infrastructure for decades, instead of objecting or protesting, people rush to purchase generators and other equipment to keep their televisions on. It means pursuing a rather individualistic life, with an air of arrogance (American exceptionality and leadership) and as a result, ignorance and lack of compassion towards the rest of the global population. America, in fact, had been the utopia for many people around the world, and for many decades after the Second World War and until late 1970s and early 1980s. There are many reasons why America became a great nation for three or four decades, and why Americans still feel exceptional. It has been a proposition for the historians to delve into the history of this country, from the time when Europeans landed on different parts of the continent, to the Second World War, when an opportunity arose to claim global supremacy. Someone from outside of this great country may look inside with a different view.

 How Sanctions Feed Authoritarianism

This interview serves as a reminder regarding the diabolical timeline of America’s hegemonic project. Is Iran the next target “to be taken out”?
All these countries are on the Pentagon’s drawing board.  These seven countries have directly or indirectly been the object of US aggression.
General Wesley Clark. Retired 4-star U.S. Army general, Supreme Allied Commander of NATO during the 1999 War on Yugoslavia .
Today we spend the hour with General Wesley Clark, the retired four-star general. He was the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO during the Kosovo War. In 2004 he unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic presidential nomination. He recently edited a series of books about famous U.S. generals including Dwight Eisenhower and Ulysses Grant – both of whom became president after their military careers ended.
Well for the rest of the hour we are going to hear General Wesley Clark on the possibility of a U.S. attack on Iran, the impeachment of President Bush, the use of cluster bombs, the bombing of Radio Television Serbia during the Kosovo War and much more. I interviewed Wesley Clark on Tuesday at the 92nd Street Y in New York.

Brain Food

The golden years of our lives are not called golden for nothing, and while Robert Frost warns us that “nothing gold can stay,” studies have shown that we can, in fact, take certain steps to lengthen the duration of our golden years and keep our minds sharp. In fact, genetics account for only 20-30 percent of our aging process, while lifestyle accounts for 60-70 percent, with nutrition being the most influential factor. If we make smart choices, filling our plates with smart foods, we can keep our bodies and minds resplendent throughout our golden years.

Children in Poverty in the United States

source: https://blogs.msn.com/empoweringkids/how-many-children-live-in-poverty-in-your-state?ocid=spartandhp

There is an interesting blog on MSN website about poverty among children in the US, the richest country and a place where the richest person in the world also resides and which is the country where he became the richest. It is authored by Evan Comen, and he provides an amazing and heart-wrenching statistics of children in poverty in the US, by each state, and in alphabetical order. California, the most liberal state in the United States is home to the most number of children in poverty. The reader should also remember that the poverty line set by the Federal government is very low, and no family can survive with an annual income even twice as much as the poverty line. This is the line that is used to determine level of poverty in this article. The statistics begin with a short description:

Throughout the United States, 18.4% of Americans under age 18 — a total of 13.4 million children — live in poverty, one of the highest child poverty rates of any developed nation. Children born into poverty are likely to continue to live in impoverished circumstances as adults. In a 2017 study from the US Partnership on Mobility from Poverty that tracked 18,000 individuals since 1968, researchers found that only 16% of children who spent a majority of their childhoods in poverty were living above the poverty line between the ages of 25 and 30. Poverty in America also disproportionately affects minority families and exacerbates existing socioeconomic inequalities along racial lines.
States with higher childhood poverty rates tend to perform poorly in other socioeconomic factors, such as lower educational attainment rate, higher unemployment, and higher rates of food insecurity, all of which can ultimately lead to worse health outcomes and lower life expectancy. These are places where poverty is causing bad diets.
According to a 2019 report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the lower productivity, higher crime rates, and worse health outcomes that result from child poverty cost the United States between $800 billion and $1.1 trillion a year.
