Hillary Clinton is already claiming the Democratic
nominee in this year’s election. Bernie Sanders has vowed to continue to the
end of the race, which will be decided by California voters next month, regardless
of Party Favors Super-Delegates. By all accounts, Sanders’ campaign has been
the least publicized of any candidate by the press and the media, while it has
had the most appeal among voters, especially young and educated. The Party has
obviously shown its displeasure with Bernie, an outside-of-the-norm of the
Party candidate, who is running against the status quo and without the support
of the Party establishment.
We have learned about Democratic Party president’s
dirty tricks and her in-Party campaign against Bernie, and in some cases
sabotaging his campaign. Still, we hear Bernie’s name on everyone’s lips, and his
presence in majority’s heart and mind. Perhaps no one has attracted so many
individuals as Bernie has during his campaign. The reason is clear; people are fed
up with the bureaucrats and government officials, whose aim of satisfaction is
not their constituencies but their funders. People are also tired of the
disparity between the “haves” and the “have-nots”, and they are heart broken by
the wars ignited in the Middle-East and in Africa in order to keep those
nations exploited, and for the weapon manufacturers to sell more ammunitions. The
puzzling question is, when this election is over, whether Sanders wins or
loses, what is going to happen to his vast array of followers? If he wins the
election, he will have a hard time to make any improvements in a government
that has been built from the very beginning on exploitation, destruction, and
mayhem. He has to rely on his followers, and for that, he has to create and lead
a movement. If Sanders does not get elected, he has to create a movement again,
but this time a stronger and wider movement, that would encompass people from
all over the nation and all shapes and colors and financial categories. This will
solidify his bid for the next election, and will help him to move through his
agenda faster if elected next time around, as the ground would already be built
for changes. Hopefully he will not concede to demands of the Party and will not
attempt to amend the Party and ask his followers to support Clinton camp. That
would be a direct betrayal of those who trusted him and stayed with him
regardless of all the obstacles they have created for themselves and their
careers by supporting him.
Bernie Sanders is hopefully not short of speech
writers, but if he is, the following speeches would be the most appropriate for
both cases of succeeding or failing the election.
Bernie Sanders’
Inauguration Speech:
This election has proved one important factor, which
may even account for a new set of statistics in American political horizon. In
the past, people sat on the sideline of elections with apathy when the status
quo and the usual big bucks supported candidates run for elections. What this
election has proved is that people have no apathy to get involved when they
find a candidate who proposes to work for them. I was elected not by super-pack
contributions, or by endorsement of rich and powerful, or by media’s marketing,
but by ordinary people. People who desire to see peace in the world, justice
and equity, and above all, equality in race, gender, and any other
differentiating factor. You have elected me to work for you in the White House.
However, I have bad news for you! I cannot do anything without your continued
support. Remember that you are sending me to the lions’ den. You need to stay
proactive and support me as you have been during the campaign. I need your
support for every bill that I introduce, for every person I select for public
office, and for every decision I make, since I am planning to have the most transparent
government ever. It is only with your support that I can push any bill through.
A great majority of those who are in the two houses of legislature, and elected
officials of any state, city, or municipalities do not favor me. They hope that
this will be a four-year term, or better yet, I will be somehow vanished from
the office by natural disaster or by the force of the big bucks, or become a
lame duck. It is with your support that I can work for you, and I would like to
see your continued presence, whether supporting or opposing my views, in
political scenes. I am planning to establish a movement, in which every citizen
of this country who would like to participate, will be able to have a voice in
the political direction of this country. We are facing tremendous number of
issues that we have to overcome, and it is only possible with your support. I
need every single one of you to ask accountability from your called elected
officials, and if not satisfactory, elect those who are favored by members of
this movement. We will start building this nation on cooperation versus
competition, collaboration versus separation, love versus hate, peace versus
war, armistice versus armament, and we will bring back a picture of America
that was once the most favorite country to live in. We have only a few years to
do this, so help me start working on it today.
Bernie Sanders’
Acceptance Speech:
As you all know, we have been swimming against the
current. We have lost but we are not beaten. In fact, we are beginning a new
wave of demanding our rights. We have been trying to bring equality, justice,
and fairness nationwide, through governmental means. However, the power of the
rich was so strong that will of the people was not able to rescind it. If fact
this had made us more resilient. We are not giving up, and although I will
continue to hold my office for the benefit of the state I have been elected
from, we will continue our struggle together by resurrecting a new movement, and
by demanding those in power to release the grip of the super-pack and turn
around 180 degrees, or face our opposition which will depose them out of the
office and replace them with our own candidates. I will continue my campaign
with your support and I am requesting that you continue supporting me in
demanding all that has been struggled for so far. We will create a social
network and make every official, whether national or local, accountable, and we
will expose anyone not working for people. This is the time to organize and
occupy streets of America with peaceful demonstrations of our will. I am
planning to establish an organizational movement, where we can continue our
struggle outside of the government, to bring about a government that represents
people; all the people.
